Monetizing Divekick videos on YouTube
« on: January 27, 2014, 08:19:37 pm »
Hi, just wanted to drop this here as we've had a lot of requests about this lately:

Iron Galaxy LLC grants you permission to monetize YouTube videos containing video and audio from our videogame "Divekick." If there are any questions about the validity of this permission please email contact AT iron galaxy studios. com

So One True Game Studios and Iron Galaxy have given us foot soldiers permission to earn money from DiveKick gameplay videos. But how do we get the darn things viral in the first place?

While looking for answers, I strayed into Forbes.com and found an informative li'l piece.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/lewishowes/2012/08/09/how-to-go-viral-on-youtube-the-untold-truth-behind-getting-views/

So... maybe I'll make a video of cats divekicking... (^_^)

The 50000 match reward character will be a cat. Ground special is a portal through the ground into a ceiling cling.

"You know what they say." (A cat always lands on its feet, oho)
"Beware the pawed people."
"Paws before claws."
"No, YOU get in the bag!"

This is currently the most-viewed Divekick-related video, I believe.

Uh... yeah...

So what can we take from this? Not much tech, but it entertained (or at the very least intrigued) a lot of people who hadn't played the game yet.

For maximum hype generation, a DiveKick vid needs:

(01) funny/clever commentary
(02) amusing/friendly trash talk (if there's more than one person in the vid)
(03) personalities
(04) decent length (10 minutes long, maybe?)
(05) a catchy title

And, if all else fails, just put in a cat or PewDiePie in there and watch the numbers roll. (^_^);

Keep in mind that was also a video featured by Pewdiepie, so it automatically got viewed by a decent section of his followers. The method may not be too terribly telling in comparison to that.

Yeah, Pewds' wasn't the best of showcasings. Laggy, zoom bugs...

I liked these ones well enough.

The esports hours were also really neat. So was the The Making of Divekick series.

Character spotlights a la League o' Legends could be cool.

Achievement Hunter (of Rooster Teeth) played Divekick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8VXlAHpomM

It was also the final of season 2 of The Gauntlet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM928jO8rj8
