Uses for Timer Scam?
« on: September 14, 2013, 06:11:23 pm »
I personally have never encountered a situation where the Timer Scam skill has been of any use. Has anyone here had a situation where it actually helped them out?

It's biggest use is probably to win by timeout.

Man, it has uses. Should a match come down to holding the line, it pretty much guarantees a win if you fire it off right, it can be used to run down other people's Kickfactor which is especially useful versus the Baz since I'm pretty sure Timer Scam outright runs the entire duration of his Kickfactor since the patch though I've never actually tried it because I play neither Jefailey nor Baz.

Holding the line is the big use though. Trying to win by line hold against a jefailey with meter isn't the easiest thing in the world when they can totally stall the game for two seconds.

2 basic purposes.
Winning the line, and giving yourself some charge time.
If you hold kick after activating Timer Scam, you'll charge your kick up for the 2 second duration. This essentially gives Jefailey a meter-bound unreactable, and can make for some punish opportunities on opponents who think it's safe to go in on an uncharged Jefailey.

As stated:

1. Easy Time-Over win
2. Free Charge
3. Drain opponent KF (at least I believe it does)
4. Troll.

I like doing that move or DISQUALIFIED at the end of my KF.

Good times.

Now that, I didn't know. That sounds like something brimming with underused potential. Mind you, given the nature of it, it's going to be a pretty telegraphed attack.

That seems like a really good use of the skill. Is it supposed to do that, or is that some kind of bug?

Keits said it's a feature on the esports hour.

I didn't actually know they'd talked about it on the Esports hours, but I figured it wasn't a bug since the AIs use it all the time.

Yes, but that doesn't matter if they're already committed to something, or close enough that they won't be able to move out of the way.

Timer scam does not drain the opponents kickfactor.

Timer scams uses:

1. Winning by timeout when the timer is at 1.
2. Winning by timeout when the timer is at 4 with a kickfactor activated double timer scam.
3. Draining markmans precision mode.
4. Draining the rest of your kickfactor if you start a round with a tiny bit left, this allows you to start building kickfactor up again.
5. Building a kick charge during timer scam.

This is probably one for the "Buffs & Nerfs" thread but seriously, why not? That blows.

It is strange. Hitting KF yourself keeps the timer running AND drains any related things (opponents KF, Markman's Arcade Stick).

Not draining kick factor is probably a bug.

I did run a test on this, the kickfactor activation freeze does not drain your opponent's kickfactor either, it does however drain their concussion time and I don't know about markman's kickbox thing give me a moment.

...Nope, doesn't drain Markman's kickbox meter thing either. Kick factor activation freeze appears to only drain concussion.

HOWEVER, for some strange reason Timer Scam does drain Markman's Kickbox meter, it also drains the concussion meter as well. Just not Kickfactor.

Hell if I know why this isn't even internally consistent, but those are the facts.
